“Teach the teachers” workshop in AK
Bear Trust and our partners successfully completed our first “teach the teacher” workshop in Portage, AK on Nov 11-12, 2011! Workshop activities were based on lessons in Bear Trust’s Curriculum Guide to The Bear Book. Teachers who participated in the workshop will earn continuing education credits. NJ Div of Fish and Wildlife endorses Bear Trust’s Education Program
Just in: New Jersey Division of Fish and Wildlife officially endorsed Bear Trust’s new education program: Curriculum Guide to The Bear Book! We are planning to pilot this education program for 1,000 students in Sussex County during school year 2011-2012.

CO Project: Field crew has captured 33 bears!
Field crew has captured 33 bears; 11 of which were adult females. All adult females have been fitted with GPS collars so that we track bear movements.

Colorado Project: Field crew captured 3 more bears

Field crew captured 5 male black bears last week! Still waiting for our first female capture because we only collar female bears for this study.
