We are currently piloting The Curriculum Guide to The Bear Book.  This science-based education program includes 8 lessons; each addresses STEM goals and meets National Science Standards.

3.  Curriculum Guide to The Bear Book Volume II

Bear Trust is currently developing The Bear Book Volume II and corresponding Curriculum Guide.  The Curriculum Guide to The Bear Book Volume II will include 12 lessons that link directly to, and build upon, chapters on bear research in The Bear Book Volume II.  This education program will be web-based, project-based, and free.  Learn more…..

 

4.  Continuing Education Course: Anchorage Teachers

Bear Trust is collaborating with Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center, Alaska Department of Fish and Game, and the University of Alaska at Anchorage to bring a continuing education course to high school teachers in the Anchorage School District.  The corresponding workshop was held Nov 11 and Nov 12.  Learn more…….

 

5. Linking Bear Demography and Behavior

We are developing an education program based on our analyses of a long-term data base.  We are using a 30-year data base to link estimates of bear demography (population survival, population growth rate) with estimates of bear behavior (movements, habitat selection, resource selection) to better understand bear ecology.
