Bear Trust Focus Areas
Bear Trust International believes in a common sense approach to conservation. We focus on the following 4 program areas:
- Education: Bear Trust is educating people about bear conservation, habitat conservation, illegal wildlife trafficking, the role of science in wildlife management, and reducing human-bear conflicts. For education outreach, Bear Trust targets young people, landowners, and communities. All of Bear Trust’s education programs are grounded in sound science, many include real-world data from field research.
- Research and Management: Bear Trust is conducting applied research on the 8 bear species and using results from research to help inform bear management. Bear Trust promotes bear management that is sustainable and balanced with natural systems and with the needs of communities and economies. Results from our research are also translated into data-rich education programs for young people everywhere.
- Habitat Conservation: Bear Trust is working to protect, restore, and enhance native habitats used by bears around the world.
- Conservation Policy: Bear Trust is working with elected officials and government agencies to promote innovative, cost-effective bear conservation policies that are based on sound science and that benefit both public and private lands.
